III. National Congress in Hungary
TRUST IN THE MERCIFUL GOD
"To preach good news to the poor”
God’s merciful love was celebrated and preached with this motto and with music, singing, teaching and with a holy mass in Budapest at the Saint Joseph church all day long on 22nd May. People came from all over Hungary and from Slovakia to participate.
Bishop István Katona celebrated the opening mass of the conference and then Clown Lala prayed together with mentally disabled children and told them some tales.
Bishop János Székely held a lecture about the mercy of God and then some Romani people gave witness – with words and with music ‒ how beautiful it is to live with God and to walk with God on the way.
Cardinal Christoph Schönborn and Father Patrice Chocholski ‒ who organise the apostolic congresses on Divine Mercy ‒ greeted our Hungarian conference with heartfelt words. This year the Second World Apostolic Congress on Mercy will take place in Cracow, Poland from October 1st to the 5th, 2011.
Reverend József Hagyó ‒ similarly to Father Patrice ‒ emphasized the two main dimensions of mercy : the compassionate love and the true persistence in that.
In the hour of the Divine Mercy the participants together with hundreds of homeless prayed for God’s mercy for the world. The parish priest : Father Ferenc Bajzáth in his sermon referred to the people who walk on the streets of Budapest without knowing their way, who lost the truth and cannot see the meaning of life. The message from the Gospel for them is : Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life.
In the afternoon there was adoration : Jesus in the Holy Sacrament poured out his grace upon us.
During the evening mass the Franciscan preacher : Balázs Barsi held a wonderful, breathtaking sermon about the Mercy of God in the Holy Trinity. It is a great mystery, it is not a new teaching, but a new light, that illuminates the message of the Scriptures according to the signs of the time.
In the evening the members of the Society of the Social Sisters and of the Emmanuel Community prayed to the merciful God for the healing of the wounds of the heart – it was personal intercessory prayer.
A group of young enthusiastic musicians : the Adoremus Band played for us during the congress.
Guess how many people were there at the third national congress at the Saint Joseph church on 22nd May between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. God knows it exactly : 2000 consecrated hosts were given away, there was none left in the tabernacle.
Thanks be to God who is rich in mercy, to Bishop István Katona, to Father Ferenc Bajzáth, to the St. Joseph Parish and to the organizing committee.
JESUS I TRUST IN YOU
