For this year 2009, Rev. Fr. Patrice Chocholski, WACOM Gen. Coordinator & Gen. Secretary accepted the suggestion for the Philippines to host the upcoming Asian Apostolic Congress On Mercy ’09 (AACOM). It has been set for Nov. 20-21-22, 2009 in Manila, Philippines. Whereas, Oceania will be held in Samoa-Apia scheduled on July 15-20, 2009.

Thus, on behalf of Cardinal CHRISTOPH SCHONBORN, President, World Apostolic Congress On Mercy, Msgr. Josefino S. Ramirez as COORDINATOR for the Continents of ASIA & OCEANIA, invites Asian & Oceanian Bishops to participate in this significant event together with their duly appointed PRIEST (Spiritual Director for the Divine Mercy), LAY Coordinators and Delegates to represent their Archdiocese/Diocese/Country.

Theme : MERCY, The Face of the Son of Man in ASIAderived from the Post Synod Document on "Ecclesia in Asia" integrated with the most recent Synodal Document ’08 on the "Word of God" coinciding with the Anniversary of St. Paul and his Missionary endeavor as an Apostle. The Theme, highlights Cardinal Schonborn’s Message at WACOM : "Be Apostles of Mercy". Likewise, prominence shall be given on the Scriptural Foundation of the Message of Mercy, as well as its Socio-Pastoral dimension in the context of the Church in Asia with its current issues and challenges (Mercy as a Way of Life) ; Mercy as a Devotion shall be given due attention in the Liturgy and Sacraments centered on the Eucharist. Thus, as an integral whole, Divine Mercy will find its full expression in the Asian Churches as a Mystery, Communion, and Mission.

The Divine Mercy Asia Manila Office shall prepare the details of the program, the venue, the site, and other pertinent matters which shall be posted accordingly as soon as matters are finalized)
